What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finish Blade Operator (Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas) position at Bettis Companies?
Position will require extended travel and work throughout the Midwest (e.g. Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska), starting around Odessa, NE.
· $27.00/hour BOE
· Weekly overtime after 40 hours

Primary Function:
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment on a construction jobsite in a safe manner. Heavy equipment may include: front-end loaders, bulldozers, scrapers, pavers, trimmers, mixers, or compactors; primary equipment will be finish blade / motor grader. Stringless / GPS experience is preferred. The Heavy equipment operator must also complete prestart checks, assist with fluid checks and maintenance, securing the equipment, cleaning, and other duties as directed by the Foreman or Division Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operating equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to company policy, as well as manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Performing daily maintenance & safety checks.
- Cleaning equipment as required.
- Ensuring that equipment is secured at the end of the shift.
- Must foster harmonious interactions and relationships and maintain basic standards of civility in the workplace.

Working Conditions
- Ascend/descend ladder 8-10 feet to access equipment operating station.
- Keep equipment moving along specified path to ensure equipment is processing material to required specifications.
- Remove excess built up material at the end of shift using a scrapper and shovel, periodically the operator may need to use jack or chipping hammers.
- May perform other duties as assigned by Foreman or Division Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen with a “Negative” result.
- Must be able to complete a post-offer physical with a “Capable” result.
