Refrigeration Engineer

The Refrigeration Engineer is responsible for designing and improving refrigeration systems for Beverage Air Equipment.  Duties include design modeling system performance, selecting components, writing test requests, supervision of testing and evaluation of results to ensure Beverage Air equipment meets customer expectations for performance and reliability and conforms to all applicable regulatory standards. Works collaboratively with other functional areas to set and meet priorities that support the business strategy. Performs all other duties as assigned.  

Key Responsibilites

• Ensures all safety practices are followed.  Proactively identifies unsafe practices and equipment.  Raises safety issues appropriately. 
• Adheres to and supports all company policies and procedures in support of company goals and customer satisfaction.
• Designs cost effective refrigeration systems that meet customer expectations for performance and reliability and conform to all regulatory requirements.
• Uses software models to simulate refrigeration system performance and select components.
• Writes test requests, monitors testing, analyzes results and signs off on completed tests.
• Reduces manufacturing complexity by designing refrigeration system platforms for product families.
• Provides leadership and guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Demonstrates initiative, ingenuity and technical skills for planning, directing and performing assignments
• Provides suggestions and recommendations for system improvements against performance, reliability and cost parameters.
• Proactively communicates issues.
• Provides performance feedback, makes hiring and development suggestions for department employees
• Assists Engineering Manager with projects and other duties as assigned.

 Specialized Skills

• Broad knowledge and experience designing refrigeration systems and controls.
• Extensive knowledge of Federal and State energy regulations, UL Electrical Safety and Sanitation standards and testing requirements.
• Experience working with suppliers of refrigeration components and controls.
• Ability to schedule refrigeration system design activities, lead projects and work well within a team environment.
• Proficient with refrigeration simulation software and tools.
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook.  Experience using MRP systems.
• Excellent skills in working with people; providing clear and concise work instructions, motivation and training; and balancing work effort.
• Demonstrated ability to make timely, high-quality decisions and solve problems.
• Demonstrated ability to read bills of materials and engineering drawings.
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Sute.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Proficient with the use of technology including cell phone and computer
• Learn Gross Margin Template and company AX system.

Physical 

• Normal office and manufacturing environment.  May be required to occasionally lift up to 35lbs.
