ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Proper administration of all medications. These medications shall be administered in accordance with orders of physician and shall be in accordance with proper procedures developed by Pharmaceutical Advisory Committee.
- Insure responsibility for the ordering and maintaining of adequate supply of medication for each resident and assuring that such medications are correct and adequately stored.
- Monitor that all treatments are accomplished with proper procedures.
- Monitor special diets and observations of eating habits, likes, dislikes, weight gain or loss, and recommend changes to physician with needed. This shall be done in cooperation with dietary department.
- Keep current all immunizations, records, lab work, physical exams, consolation notes, and all required forms are in place with current dates and signatures.
- Participate in IDT staffing’s offering input and opinion establishing realistic short-term and long-term goals and appropriate approaches to accomplish these goals.
- Provide first aid treatment to residents and employees in case of accident or injury.
- Continuously endeavor to improve the health and welfare of each resident. To suggest and initiate with medical approval any techniques which will strengthen potential skills and maintain existing skills and foster the human dignity and personal worth of each resident and enhance the coping capacity of the resident and family.

Qualifications:

Education:
License Practical Nurse with current and valid Illinois license and experience with the developmentally disabled preferred.

- Computer skills and comfortable with software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel, access, power point) or similar software.
- Interpersonal Skills – Focuses on solving conflict, maintaining confidentiality; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the Administrators, Unit Directors, Clinical, Human Recourses, Employees, Clients and the General Public.

Abilities Requirements:
Reasoning Ability: Able to recognize possible conflict or potential aggressive situation and use technical skills of diffusion and resolution.
Technology Skills: Computer literacy essential in word processing. Knowledge of Outlook or similar programs.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, crawl and reach. Employee will occasionally use a mechanical lift, climb stairs and ramps. The employee will frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Occasionally employee may be required to work extra hours. The employee is frequently required to use both hands and push/pull. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. On occasion the work environment may be cold or hot. Adequate vision and hearing is required.
