Medical Biller

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate and timely attention to claims, and maintaining comprehensive medical records. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to navigate various medical billing software.

Duties

• Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
• Review patient records for completeness and accuracy before billing.
• Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and resolving any discrepancies/holds.
• Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies regarding billing inquiries and issues.
• Maintain organized medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
• Assist in the collection of outstanding payments from patients or third-party payers as necessary.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and medical office procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in using medical billing software (Athena) and systems is highly desirable.

Pay: $18.40 - $19.35 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
