What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crossing Guard Beverly Public Schools position at BEVERLY PUBLIC SCHOOLS?
CROSSING GUARDS JOB DESCRIPTION
School Crossing Guards are part-time personnel (approximately 10) hours/week employed by the Beverly Public Schools. All applicants shall submit to a CORI check and fingerprints as a condition of employment.
Each Crossing Guard shall be issued and will be responsible for a Yellow Vest, Yellow Gloves and a standard Stop Sign. The Vest, Gloves and Stop Sign must be worn at all times while on duty. All Crossing Guards must familiarize themselves with the duties and responsibilities of the position.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. All Crossing Guards should report to their corners at least 15 minutes before you're AM and PM tours and be standing at your
assigned corner NO MATTER what the weather is. If you are sick or have an emergency situation, you are required to let Joanna Pino know with at least 1 hour notice. If you miss your shift 3 times without letting Joanna know, you will be terminated.
2. Be familiar with school calendars for when children will be dismissed early. Be prepared to adjust your calendar in order to be
on duty at your assigned corner on those days. 3. if unable to report for duty due to illness or other personal reasons, a Crossing Guard shall notify the Traffic Supervisor
Coordinator no later than 6:30 a.m. In cases of expected prolonged absences from duty, notify the Traffic Supervisor Coordinator as soon as possible.

If you're sick for five or more calendar days, a doctor's note is required to return back to school.
5. Yellow Vest, Gloves, & Stop Signs must be used at all times while at your corner. Umbrellas need to be returned when broken
or if you resign your position.
6. All corners must have a crossing guard to insure the safety of the children (think of children you are crossing).

Ensure that children use the proper crossing locations and that no children are in the street while traffic is moving.
8. When stopping traffic to allow children to cross, ensure that it can be accomplished in a safe and orderly manner before
signaling with the stop sign. Whenever possible, the use of walk lights is recommended.
9. During your shift (AM & PM) smoking and cell phone use are prohibited.
10. Under no circumstance shall a crossing guard offer transportation to a student.
11. The stopping of motor vehicles that commit violations and the confrontations of motorists are prohibited. However, if possible,
try and obtain the license plate number, make, model, and color of the vehicle. This information should be forwarded to the Traffic Supervisor Coordinator or contact the Beverly Police Department with the information.
