Summary
Responsible for monitoring and observation of Jail Programs areas at Adult Detention Center facilities under the supervision of experienced Deputies; operates and monitors surveillance equipment; maintains activity logs; completes various clerical tasks; assists deputies in escorting inmates and staff when warranted to and from inmate programming locations; and performs other related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitors and conducts visual observation of Jail Programs classroom environments inside the Adult Detention Center facilities
- Alerts appropriate authority when intervention by uniformed Deputies is necessary
- Enforces ADC computer use policy and maintains control of the ADC Jail program areas
- Maintains activity logs regarding incidents occurring within Jail Programs areas
- Prints and distributes class / program rosters and related documents
- Communicate with living unit officers to ensure that inmates are being routed to and from program areas according to schedules
- Recognizes, detects and immediately reports potential contraband and safety concerns to Deputies
- Performs maximum observation of inmates at assigned location
- Assist Deputies with inmate escorts to and from program areas when required
- Assists in researching defendant and suspect criminal history and driver's license information utilizing the Texas Criminal Information Center (TCIC) and National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) computer systems
