Under direction, notifies victims of cases filed; provides victims of crime with information regarding the criminal justice system and case status; provides assistance with Victim Impact Statements and Crime Victims Compensation; and performs related duties as required. This Position is Excluded from Civil Service.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Notify victims of cases filed Provide information regarding status of cases to victims Provide information regarding criminal justice system, case process and victims’ rights Refer victims to counseling, social services, shelters and other agencies for assistance Accompany victims to court Maintain statistical data Interviews high risk victims alleging domestic/intimate partner violence, requesting an application for protective order Provides advocate support for domestic violence high risk program Assists prosecutors with case preparation and protective order court process Researches local criminal history and civil cases involving parties related. Prepares affidavits, court orders, subpoenas, case correspondence and other legal documents for court action Gathers and documents information for case history and obtains necessary signatures Responsible for e-Filing documents as they relate to each individual protective order case Accompany and assist prosecutors at weekly court settings and/or scheduled hearings, including direct contact with civil court judges, personnel, and respondents May assist victims in filing criminal charges Performs related duties as required
