JOB
Under direct supervision, is responsible for; interviewing defendants about financial status for payment of assessed fees; requesting defendant's credit history; collecting payments, reconciling cash accounts and making deposits; performing data entry; contacting defendants that breach scheduled payments; and performing related duties as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Interviews defendants regarding financial status, calculates fees and negotiates methods and schedules of payments for collection Requests and reviews defendant's credit history through the San Antonio Retail Merchant Association (SARMA) Credit Agency to determine a debt and payment pattern Collects payments from defendants in person and by mail, and issues receipts, reconciles daily cash accounts and deposits collected funds with the County Treasury Office Performs data entry into internal cash report to log incoming funds, and prepares collection reports on a daily and monthly basis Contacts defendants that breach their scheduled payments, processes delinquent cases for non-compliance action and prepares reports to document progress Prepares and notarizes affidavits requesting court approval to waive defendant assessed fees Coordinates with District Attorney's Office in preparation and submittal of civil law suits for delinquent or expired payment contracts beyond legal term limits Performs other duties as required
