Under general supervision, is responsible for providing County Courts-at-Law case files and documents; oversees Assistant Court Clerks; maintains dockets; prepares correspondence; prepares official documents; coordinates court appearances; administers oaths; performs data entry; answers telephones; maintains files; makes certified copies; and performs related duties as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Maintains hearing, jury and non-jury trial daily docketsOversees the daily work of Assistant Court Clerks. Calculates and collects fines and court costs and fees in person and by mail. Balances cash drawer. Prepares daily bank deposits. Answers correspondence and telephone inquiries regarding court costs and fees. Updates misdemeanor cases regarding time payments not paid in full within the allotted time. Contacts defendants with outstanding fines and sets cases for show-cause hearingsPrepares court correspondencePrepares and issues legal documents which may include court orders, judgments, warrants, subpoenas, requests for Abstracts of Judgment and Writs of Execution and Possession, court ordered personal service on delinquent estates or requests for psychiatric examinationsCoordinates the appearance of parties for cases scheduled on the daily docketAdministers oaths and takes proofs for parties involved in individual casesPerforms data entry and computer research of individual case, court date and dismissal or appeal informationAnswers questions in person and by telephone regarding court proceduresMaintains case filesMakes certified copies of legal documentsPrepares court case reports and statisticsMay calculate and accept fees and court costs for court ordersPerforms other duties as required
