What are the responsibilities and job description for the Criminal Warrants Processor position at Bexar County?
Under general supervision processes all criminal warrants upon receipt.
- Enters criminal warrants into Texas Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center (TCIC/NCIC) system and updates electronic files
- Maintain statistics and prepare reports
- Contacts law enforcement agencies and other outside agencies to verify if warrant is active
- Receives from law enforcement officers, investigators or medical examiners crime scene evidence and/or seized property
- Answers telephone, routes calls and takes messages utilizing some discretion
- Performs filing and other clerical activities
- Performs other duties as required
- High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and three (3) years data entry, general office or administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Good knowledge of Texas Criminal Penal Codes; good knowledge of TCIC/NCIC codes and extradition laws; knowledge of basic office procedures
- Skill in operating personal computer and basic office equipment; skill in coding, filing and organizing data
- Ability to understand and follow instructions and strict operating procedures; ability to maintain records, compile data and organize reports; ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other government agencies, outside organizations, co-workers, other County employees, news media and the public
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- Must be certified TCIC/NCIC every two (2) years
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Constantly working in indoor conditions
- Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10 pounds
- Occasionally moves about the office
- Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Positions self to perform essential functions
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
