Summary
Under general supervision, maintains appropriate readiness levels of public safety equipment, conducts warehouse operations to support the Office of Emergency Management and Fire Marshal’s Office Mission. Responsible for creating and maintaining complex inventory reports, monitors reorder of supplies; confirms and receives orders; reconciles inventory discrepancies, processes invoices for payment; processes requisitions and purchase orders, monitors and records asset installation, moving, and disposal at multiple locations; ensures proper inventory documentation is submitted per request; and performs related duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates and manages warehouse/logistics operations, including shipping, receiving, and operation of industrial material handling equipment, such as forklift and pallet jack, and responsibility for warehouse safety.
- Transports equipment, supplies and/or other commodities to other locations utilizing Ford F-350 or similar vehicle, towing trailers (multiple sizes) or other equipment.
- Manages the disaster life cycle of supplies and equipment, from pre-disaster readiness, to dispatch, to rehabilitation and return to stock.
- Monitors, maintains and updates inventory reports, accurate acquisition, and maintenance records of equipment/ items; reconciles inventory discrepancies
- Repairs, inspects, cleans, calibrates, tests, and restocks equipment and tool according to manufacturer and program specifications
- Packages, secures, and maintains public safety equipment in an appropriate state of readiness for deployment
- Receives, stores, records, issues, and maintains accountability for cache items
- Records purchases, maintains database, performs physical count of inventory at multiple locations
- Processes requisitions, purchase orders and invoices for payment
- Maintains statistics and develops complex reports
- Assists with special projects using independent decision-making and judgment
- Responds to general and complex questions and complaints regarding department or work
- May supervise, lead or train administrative or clerical support personnel
- May perform general administrative tasks such as copying, answering telephones; open and distribute mail
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate, one (1) year maintenance, building trades, construction, emergency response, or mechanical experience, and two (2) years of inventory control experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations; proficient in operating a personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment; skill in accurately entering data and file information; knowledge of general office procedures
- Ability to reconcile inventory counts, monitor and update complex data reports; ability to analyze and solve problems; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to work independently; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, and the public; ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to determine quantity and location of assets
- Must have and maintain a valid Texas Class C driver’s license
- Must be able to drive and operate a variety of trucks and trailers
- Must be able to operate or ability to learn how to operate a forklift
- Must be able to type 30 words per minute with a maximum of 5 errors
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
