What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Control Technician position at Bexar County?
Under general supervision, is responsible for creating and maintaining complex inventory reports, monitors reorder of supplies; confirms and receives orders; reconciles inventory discrepancies, processes invoices for payment; processes requisitions and purchase orders, monitors and records asset installation, moving, auctioning, and disposal at multiply locations; ensures proper inventory documentation is submitted per request, and may serve as a cashier and handle cash related payments; and performs related duties as assigned.
- Monitors, maintains and updates inventory reports; reconciles inventory discrepancies
- Processes requisitions, purchase orders and invoices for payment
- Records purchases, maintains database, performs physical count of inventory at multiple locations
- Maintains statistics and develops complex reports
- Assists with special projects using independent decision-making and judgment
- Responds to general and complex questions and complaints regarding department or work
- May supervise, lead or train administrative or clerical support personnel
- May perform general administrative tasks such as copying, answering telephones; open and distribute mail
- Performs related duties as required
- Graduation from High School or a General Education development (GED) certificate, and two (2) years of inventory control experience, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Good knowledge of English spelling, grammar and punctuation; good knowledge of office procedures
- Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations
- Skill to type 30 words per minute with no more than 7 errors? Requires recent typing test administered by Workforce Solutions Alamo Career Centers (Please attach a copy of your typing results to your online application or fax them to (210) 335-2558 by the closing date.)
- Proficient in operating a personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment; skill in accurately entering data and file information
- Ability to reconcile inventory counts, monitor and update complex data reports; ability to analyze and solve problems; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to work independently; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, and the general public; ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to determine quantity and location of assets
- Must be familiar with working in excel, specifically spreadsheets.
- Must be bilingual in Spanish
- Must have and maintain a valid Texas Class C driver's license
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
- Working conditions are primarily indoors with occasional outdoor exposure such as Heavy Equipment Service Centers, and Fleet Maintenance areas
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
- Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as hazardous fluids (gasoline, oil, fluids, antifreeze, freon, battery acid, and solvents) extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Will frequently communicate with co-workers; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Frequently moves about buildings
- Constantly positions self to perform essential functions
- Constantly operates tools and equipment
