Beyond Addiction is a detox and residential substance abuse treatment center. The facility has 28 beds and is a remodeled home-like place of recovery.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Nurse is responsible for all Nursing-related services for each Client and for linking Clients to the physician(s), other medical staff on-site, and to outside medical resources. They communicate when necessary to inform the clinical team about medical issues and are available for emergencies. The Nurse provides all services under the supervision of the Nurse Supervisor and Medical Director. The Nurse is responsible for providing medical & history screens, providing routine nursing care, and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the Client in coordination with the Medical Director. They are also a member of the Treatment Team and provide input into developing the Master Treatment Plan.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
1. EDUCATION:
A minimum of a graduation from an accredited post-secondary LPN program.
2. EXPERIENCE:
Experience not required. Experience of 1 year in the Substance Use Disorder or other Behavioral Health setting, preferred.
3. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Licensed to practice nursing in Pennsylvania; maintaining current licensure per state requirements as a Licensed Practical Nurse(LPN). Maintains current CPR, First Aid, AED Certification.
4. SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Demonstrates proficiency in communication, observation & written skills.
- Knowledge of State & Federal statutes regarding client confidentiality laws.
- Knowledge of drug-free workplace policies.
- Knowledge of workplace violence.
- Knowledge of corporate integrity & ethics
- Knowledge of substance use disorders and other behavioral health conditions.
- Ability to interact with a multi-disciplinary team to assist in facets of the recovery program relating to physical health.
- Knowledge of the 12-Step Recovery Program.
- Knowledge and competency in problem-solving, stress management, ethics, and team building.
- Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that includes:
- Alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual.
- Alcohol and addictive drugs and their impact on the family.
- Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action, when necessary.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
- Knowledge of First Aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction, including:
- Confidentiality
- Client Rights
- Professional Code of Ethics
- Discrimination
- Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.
