Through our 3 E's of Excellence - educate, equip and empower - we deliver personalized mental performance programming grounded in sport psychology research. Our diverse client base includes local club teams, high school athletes, and NCAA D3 university teams.
Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and qualified Mental Performance Consultant to join our Chicago-based team. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with a diverse clientele and delivering innovative mental skills training to athletes and performers nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Support: Deliver mental performance consulting services including workshops and coach consultations.
- Program Development: Develop evidence-based mental skills workshops and presentations that are approachable and accessible to various populations/audiences. Enhance and diversify BHP’s mental skills programming/interventions surrounding topics such as leadership, mental toughness communication skills, resilience, and more.
- Business Organization: - Manage client relationships and program logistics.
- Client Acquisition: Build relationships with new teams and organizations to expand clientele.
- Travel Opportunities: Regional travel as needed for in-person team support, observation, and workshop delivery (cost covered by BHP).
- Individual Coaching: - Provide virtual one-on-one consulting for individual athletes within designated team partnerships.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree (or higher) in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field, with a specialization in Sports & Performance Psychology.
- Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) certification or in progress.
- Experience working with diverse populations and sports teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect effectively with athletes, parents, and organizations.
- Strong presentation & public speaking skills
- Passion for empowering clients to achieve their goals and embrace a mindset of excellence.
Encouraged, but not required: Clinical Mental Health or Licensed Clinical Counselor credentials.
Development & Training Overview
Initial 1-Month Training Period
- Shadow existing workshops and consultations
- Develop pilot workshops based on sports psychology literature
- Learn BHP protocols and systems
- Participate in weekly progress meetings
- Monthly stipend payment: $500 - 6hrs/week
- Bi-weekly performance reviews
Part-Time Position (Upon Successful Completion)
- 10hrs/week with the potential to grow.
- Bi-monthly salary: $500 includes a 10% bonus opportunity annually based on clientele acquisition.
- $80 monthly wellness stipend
- Independent client management with continued mentorship
