Job Description:
SL Management Partners, LLC, based in Beverly, Massachusetts, seeks a full-time Operations Assistant to join its team. SL Management Partners is a full-service Program Underwriting Manager that provides underwriting, policy administration, risk management, and claims services on behalf of two highly rated medical stop-loss insurance Carriers.
This position will monitor multiple shared mailboxes, log Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and incoming stop loss claim submissions, prepare files for underwriting, and provide general administrative support throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be local, as this position requires a minimum of three days per week on-site in the Beverly office. During the first three months of employment, the successful candidate will be required to work on-site five days per week for training and collaboration with the team.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor the RFP intake mailbox, promptly and accurately setting up RFP opportunities and loading all relevant documentation into the Underwriting System journal.
- Format Excel Census files to align with Underwriting System requirements and load the formatted Excel Census file into the system.
- Add updated information received in the RFP and Claims mailboxes to the appropriate journal and communicate updates to underwriters and claims examiners.
- Prepare files for underwriting by entering plan benefits, requested terms, competitive information, and claims experience.
- Monitor the Claims mailbox, promptly and accurately logging initial and subsequent claims submissions, notices, and reporting in the claims system.
- Format claims detail spreadsheets and import to the appropriate claim submission.
- Communicate with producers and third-party administrators to identify and obtain missing information from RFP or claims submissions.
- Track monthly reporting for in-force groups and follow up with third-party administrators for missing reports.
- Assist the Policy Administration team with administrative tasks as needed.
- Attend scheduled meetings and calls as assigned to take and distribute meeting notes.
- Additional duties and projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience preferred, preferably in an administrative role
- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication skills: in-person, telephone, and e-mail
- Ability to problem-solve and apply critical thinking skills to identify solutions
- Willingness and flexibility to learn new skills, and to assist various divisions within the company, as needed
- Candidate must be local to the Beverly, Massachusetts area
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred
- 1-3 years’ experience in the medical stop loss industry preferred
- Experience with the Connexure ESL Office System (formerly David Young) preferred
