SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Director of Day and Residential Services (DDRS) oversees the planning, implementation, and management of person-centered programs for individuals with developmental disabilities in the Day Habilitation and Residential based services. This role ensures service quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency while supervising staff, maintaining facilities, and fostering community partnerships. The DDRS is responsible for program planning, policy development, staff management, and community engagement, aligning all efforts with the agency’s mission, vision, and values.
This role is integral to advancing the agency’s mission and ensuring high-quality, person-centered services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and Development
- Develop and implement new service lines based on community needs and industry trends.
- Develop policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with OPWDD, and Social Security Benefits, regulations.
- Ensure high-quality, person-centered services in Residential, Day Habilitation, and Respite programs.
- Monitor service effectiveness, compliance, and enrollment processes.
Services Administration
- Coordinate program operations to meet individual needs, including transportation services.
- Oversee regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and service accuracy.
- Assure that all regulations are followed according to OPWDD and Medicaid Waiver standards, best practices, and time frames.
- Attend audits and surveys, ensuring corrective actions are taken as needed.
- In conjunction with Facilities Manager, oversee facility maintenance, ensuring adherence to safety, sanitation, and accessibility standards
- Manage budgets and financial resources in collaboration with the Finance Department.
- Prepare and submit program and fiscal reports to senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
Staff Management & Development
- Recruit, hire, and oversee staff in key leadership and service roles.
- Review, approve, and ensure accuracy of direct reports' timesheets, making necessary corrections and adjustments to ensure compliance with payroll policies and accurate compensation
- Implement staff training programs and professional development initiatives in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Conduct performance evaluations and ensure clear performance expectations are set and maintained.
- Communicate and enforce agency personnel policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with service documentation, incident reporting, and quality assurance standards.
- Foster a professional, supportive, and high-performing workplace culture.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
- Build and maintain professional relationships with community partners, referral agencies, and regulatory bodies.
- Promote awareness of agency services and encourage community engagement.
- Represent the agency in inter-agency planning groups and advocate for coordinated service development.
Additional Responsibilities

- Consistently complies with all Agency policies and procedures.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

- Comprehensive knowledge of disability service programs, funding sources, and regulatory compliance, including OPWDD and Social Security.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and data management.

- Proven ability to manage budgets, staff, and program operations effectively.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology or closely-related field, PLUS seven (7) years full-time paid direct experience in Human Services, Residential and Day Programs, providing services to developmentally disabled adults and five (5) years supervisory responsibility.
Minimum: Bachelor Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology or closely-related field, PLUS seven (7) years full-time paid direct service in Human Services providing services to developmentally disabled adults and five (5) years supervisory responsibility.
