Job Summary

The Estimator is responsible for estimating complex civil and commercial underground utility projects (electricity, gas, telecommunication).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and lead the estimating process for complex civil and commercial underground utility projects
  • Read and review bid documentation to ensure a complete understanding of the project
  • Prepare and oversee detailed take offs and estimates thoroughly and in a timely manner
  • Responsible for project sequence / scheduling, budgets, and cost / revenue projections
  • Understand and adhere to project goals and deadlines
  • Solicit, evaluate and negotiate sub-contractor quotes
  • Adhere to B&F Code of Conduct

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Will consider experience in lieu of degree
  • 5 years experience estimating complex underground utility projects (electricity, gas, telecommunication)
  • Experience in project budget creation, developing Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) proposal packages for contracts, scheduling, forecasting, submittals, job meetings, and bid day management
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail, and a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to build positive and sustainable relationships with peers, subordinates, and vendors
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge and experience using Bid2Win, HCSS Heavy Bid, Hard Dollar, and Microsoft Project
