POSITION SUMMARY
The Civil Technician II position is an intermediate to senior-level position. The CD-II is primarily responsible for the creation of two and three-dimensional (2D-3D) models associated with Transportation projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with Project Managers, Engineers, Civil Designers and Civil Technicians to create accurate design models for incorporation into the Construction Documents.
- Exhibits intermediate to advanced technical knowledge of applicable road, highway, and storm sewer projects.
- Uses experience and direction provided by others to create accurate construction drawings, including layout, geometry, utility, grading, profiles, cross sections, summary tables and other related plans according to company, client or regulatory agency standards, methods, and procedures.
- Uses intermediate to advanced knowledge of the various AutoCAD Civil 3D modules (Surfaces, Parcels, Grading, Alignments, Profiles, Corridors, Sections and Pipe) to create 3D models to be incorporated into the construction drawings.
- Performs duties that may include (but are not limited to) document QC/QA, field investigations, basic computations for cost estimates/quantity takeoffs or other non- technical duties.
- Assists the Civil Technicians with the assembly of construction drawing plan sets.
- Mentors and trains the Civil Technician job classifications as required.
- Completes assignments on time and within budget.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree in Civil Engineering Drafting/Technology (or similar program) or 5 or more years of experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- This position requires demonstrated competency with AutoCAD Civil 3D (as determined by the BF&S Civil 3D Council) and knowledge of Microsoft Office Products Word and Excel.
- Strong verbal communications skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public are necessary.
