Human Resources Opportunity
This is a Part Time Position
Magoo's Pet Outlet is looking for an experienced Human Resource Specialist. Must have experience with more than 50 employees, OSHA, FMLA, Unemployment and the hiring/firing of employees. Employee must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and ensure the company's compliance with workplace laws.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Develop human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action
- Improve manager and team member performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and team members, promoting a team environment and open communications
- Management and maintenance of state and federal laws pertaining to employment practices and relay information to management teams and employees
- Point of contact for all employee relations issues; assist /coach managers in resolving complaints and reporting of all employee related issues
- Maintenance of all employee records
- Prepare information and reports (including government required) by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. Tracking of Paid leave hours, performance reviews, payroll hours, disciplinary action, employee complaint reporting, training documentation, upkeep of employee forms and handbooks and employee benefit plans
- Prepare hourly payroll information on a weekly basis
- Quality control of new hire paperwork to include maintaining state databases for new hires to company record
- Review requirements for, process and monitor FMLA requirements and requests
- Maintain tracking of unemployment claims
- Monitor tardy and absentee reports to ensure proper documentation for team members with excessive tardy and absenteeism
- Comply with legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
- Maintain and coordinate employee recognition programs
- Assist with internal audit process to identify gaps in policies and procedures and implement corrective actions
- Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs
- All other duties as assigned
Expectations
- Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, interviewing, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiations, and personnel information and payroll systems
- Knowledge of business and management principles in human resources modeling, leadership techniques and coordination of people and resources
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; use reason even when dealing with emotional topics; maintain confidentiality
- Strong conflict resolution and influencing skills
- Strong sense of urgency
- Speak and write clearly and informatively; present numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information
- Prioritize and plan work activities; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook
Qualifications and Experience
- Associates Degree preferred
- Must have experience dealing with Unemployment, FMLA, Work Comp and PMLA
- Professional Certificate in Human Resources preferred
- Years of Experience: 2-4 or equivalent combination of education and experience
