BGIS is currently seeking a Safety Engineer to join the team in Reston, VA .
The Safety Engineer is responsible for assisting in the development of procedures and management of the health and safety programs to protect people from illness and injury and property from damage. The position contributes to the strategic development of the Global Health and Wellness Plan and proactively promotes, monitors, executes, and continuously improves / increases team member engagement creating a culture of Safety. The Environmental Health and Safety Engineer leads others positively exemplifying BGIS values.
Theis responsible for assisting in the development of procedures and management of the health and safety programs to protect people from illness and injury and property from damage. The position contributes to the strategic development of the Global Health and Wellness Plan and proactively promotes, monitors, executes, and continuously improves / increases team member engagement creating a culture of Safety. The Safety Engineer leads others positively exemplifying BGIS values.
Incident Management
- Audit completion of incident reports as initiated by the supervisor.
- Escalate incidents per the Incident Reporting Policy.
- Ensure all incidents and injuries are correctly entered and completed in the database.
- Communicate with Human Resources to provide worker’s compensation claims management expertise.
- Validate the duty of care is followed and the team members receive good care following work injuries
- Provide guidance for root cause investigations.
- Conduct review of incidents with the management team and HSE professional, on site as needed.
- Oversee implementation of Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA).
- Partner with team members and managers on near miss and hazard observation reporting.
- Contribute to the completion of other key initiatives as assigned.
