Job Summary:
The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations, maintenance, and administration of the company’s fleet of vehicles. The role ensures that all vehicles are properly maintained, compliant with regulations, and operated efficiently to meet the company’s transportation needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Operations & Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the company’s fleet, ensuring optimal utilization and efficiency.
- Plan and coordinate vehicle dispatching, routing, and scheduling to meet transportation demands.
- Assign drivers and vehicles to routes based on availability, load requirements, and deadlines.
- Monitor real-time dispatch activities and address delays, rerouting needs, or issues.
- Set key performance indicators (KPIs) for dispatchers, including revenue per truck, dollar per miles, and on-time deliveries.
Maintenance & Compliance:
- Ensure regular servicing and maintenance of all company vehicles to minimize downtime.
- Maintain records of vehicle repairs and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure fleet operations comply with local and national transport regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Driver Management & Supervision:
- Manage drivers and other fleet personnel.
- Monitor driver behavior, enforce safety measures, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Ensure all drivers comply with road safety regulations.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Develop and manage the fleet budget, including fuel, maintenance, and repairs.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality and safety.
- Negotiate with vendors for vehicle maintenance.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, expenses, and incidents.
- Generate reports on fleet performance, fuel efficiency, and operational costs.
- Use data analytics to optimize fleet operations and improve efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in fleet management, transport, or logistics roles.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office and conducting virtual meetings with drivers, clients, and team members
