Job Title : Mainframe z / OS platform Administrator
Location : Owing Mills, MD (Hybrid : 2 days / week on-site preferred)
Duration : February 12, 2025 – August 11, 2025
Summary
The Mainframe z / OS platform Administrator will focus primarily on the Mainframe z / OS platform , providing expertise in DB2 on z / OS 2.4 or higher and DB2 z / OS V12 . This role involves database support, system performance optimization, and participation in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation. The ideal candidate will have strong technical acumen, excellent problem-solving skills, and proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site support for IBM DB2 mainframe z / OS environments.
- Support IBM application environments and teams leveraging DB2 z / OS databases.
- Monitor and collect system performance statistics, providing recommendations for optimization.
- Respond to automated system and application alerts, performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues.
- Plan and execute software and database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
- Manage system and database backups and execute manual redundancy switches during failures.
- Utilize Broadcom / CA database administration tools (e.g., RC / Merger, RC / Query, RC / Migrator) and Rocket Software tools (e.g., ASG-TMON / MVS, TMON / DB2).
- Participate in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation for production support.
