Job Overview

The Non-Certified Maintenance Technician is responsible for basic repairs and upkeep of the apartment community to maintain a safe and pleasant living environment for residents. While certification is not required, the ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with general maintenance tasks and a strong desire to learn and grow in the maintenance field. This role includes completing work orders, assisting with apartment turnovers, and ensuring that the property is well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

• Basic Maintenance Tasks:
• Assist with general repairs, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC filter changes, and appliance troubleshooting under supervision.
• Apartment Turnovers:

Prepare vacant units for new tenants, including basic repairs, patching walls, painting, replacing fixtures, and minor installations.

• Work Orders:

Respond to and complete basic maintenance requests in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to residents. Perform routine property inspections and minor preventative maintenance tasks to help prevent larger issues from arising. Assist with groundskeeping, including maintaining common areas, sidewalks, and parking lots, as well as ensuring that the property is free of trash and debris. Assist in responding to emergency maintenance requests during work hours, and potentially be on-call for emergencies on a rotating basis. Follow safety protocols and ensure tools and equipment are handled safely. Adhere to company policies for maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Assist with vendor coordination for more advanced repairs or projects that require certified technicians.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience:
• 1-2 years of experience in a maintenance or general repair role is preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, and general handyman work is a plus.
• Skills:
• Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Other Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks required for maintenance work.
