Job Description:
As a Commercial Steel Erector at BHC Inc, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, and erecting steel frameworks for commercial buildings, including high-rise structures, warehouses, and industrial facilities. Your role will require a strong understanding of blueprints and technical drawings, a keen attention to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Erect steel frameworks, beams, columns, and other structural steel elements for commercial projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate and precise steel installation.
- Operate hoists, and other lifting equipment to move steel materials into position.
- Bolt, weld, and rivet steel components together to ensure structural integrity.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized worksite.
- Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and other trades to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
- Assist with site preparation and cleanup, ensuring all materials are secured and the work area is safe for the team.
Requirements:
- 3 years previous experience as a Steel Erector, preferably in the commercial sector.
- Strong knowledge of steel erection processes, techniques, and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience with rigging, lifting equipment, and other tools used in steel erection.
- Excellent physical stamina and the ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- OSHA certification or equivalent safety training preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor, construction sites, often in various weather conditions.
- Requires prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and working with heavy equipment.
Travel Required and Compensated. 45 day probationary period
