Job Title: Concrete Finisher and Former
Job Overview:
A Concrete Finisher and former is responsible for the final stages of concrete work, ensuring that concrete surfaces are smooth, level, and properly finished according to specifications. This role requires skill in applying finishing techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to work with various concrete tools to achieve high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surface Finishing: Smooth, level, and finish poured concrete surfaces using hand tools (e.g., trowels, floats) and power tools (e.g., power trowels, grinders).
- Screeding: Ensure that the surface is properly leveled and even by using screeds and other leveling tools.
- Edge and Joint Creation: Create clean edges, joints, and grooves as per the project’s design to control cracking and improve aesthetics.
- Curing Concrete: Apply curing agents and ensure proper curing techniques to prevent premature drying and cracking.
- Surface Inspection: Inspect the surface for defects, inconsistencies, and imperfections, and make adjustments to ensure a high-quality finish.
- Material Application: Apply finishing materials, including sealers, hardeners, or decorative coatings, as required.
- Form Removal: Remove forms and prepare the surface for any additional steps or finishing.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other concrete workers, contractors, and supervisors to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, using proper PPE and tools to ensure personal and team safety on-site.
Qualifications:
- 3 years Previous experience as a concrete finisher.
- Strong knowledge of concrete finishing techniques, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints or project specifications.
- Understanding of safety procedures on construction sites.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor, construction sites, often in various weather conditions.
- Requires prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and working with heavy equipment.
Travel Required and Compensated. 45 day probationary period
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
