Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated On-Site Foreman to lead and supervise field operations for pipeline construction projects, including ductile iron piping, hot taps, and civil excavation work. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing on-site construction teams, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
As the On-Site Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day activities, coordinating resources, managing sub-contractors, and ensuring that all work is performed according to plans, specifications, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Leadership:
- Manage and oversee all aspects of on-site operations for pipeline, ductile iron, hot tap, and civil excavation projects.
- Supervise and direct field crews, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
- Provide clear instructions and training to workers on construction methods, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
- Resolve any on-site issues related to labor, equipment, or materials in a timely and effective manner.
- Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery and adherence to project scope.
- Ensure that work is conducted in accordance with project specifications, including proper material handling and installation techniques.
- Maintain a daily log of work progress, including delays, challenges, and achievements.
- Safety Compliance:
- Implement and enforce strict adherence to company safety policies, local regulations, and OSHA standards on the job site.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and tool-box talks to address potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
- Inspect equipment and tools to ensure they are in safe, working condition.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure that all work meets industry standards and project specifications.
- Perform quality checks on installations of ductile iron piping, pipeline systems, hot taps, and civil excavation work.
- Coordinate inspections with local authorities or other regulatory agencies as required.
- Resource Management:
- Manage the allocation and tracking of materials, tools, and equipment required for each phase of construction.
- Coordinate deliveries and ensure that the site is properly equipped for ongoing work.
- Monitor the performance of sub-contractors and vendors to ensure timely and quality deliveries.
- Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving:
- Identify potential project risks or delays and develop effective solutions.
- Manage unforeseen challenges, such as weather conditions, unforeseen site conditions, or equipment failures, with minimal project disruption.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Foreman or in a supervisory role within pipeline construction, ductile iron installations, hot tap procedures, and civil excavation.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of pipeline construction techniques and materials, especially ductile iron and hot tap processes.
- Proficient in civil excavation methods, equipment handling, and site preparation.
- Experience with the management and supervision of crews and subcontractors.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and the ability to enforce them on-site.
- Certifications:
- OSHA certification or equivalent safety training.
- Relevant certifications in pipeline construction or civil engineering disciplines (preferred).
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina to inspect and oversee field operations.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with specific pipeline materials such as HDPE, PVC, or steel (in addition to ductile iron).
- Knowledge of trenchless technology or advanced pipeline construction techniques.
- First Aid and CPR certifications.
