Job Summary
The Electrical Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing plant equipment with regards to electronic components and programming.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair plant equipment involving checking voltages, changing out bad components, switching out gauges, as well as making camera and software adjustments.
- Program PLCs and diagnose machine faults/failures related to CNC, Servo, AC Motion Controls, related electronic components.
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
- Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
- Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
- Prepares reports documenting work performed.
- Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Identifying faults or hazards.
- Troubleshooting system failures.
- Reviewing blueprints to understand wiring placement.
- Testing of electrical systems with oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and ohmmeters.
- Responding to fault requests.
- Research and recommend machine control upgrades to address outdated controls.
- Knowledge of electronics
- Understanding of schematics and program reading
- Knowledgeable in a variety of machine software
- Basic algebraic mathematical ability
- Understanding of standard to metric conversions
- Excellent oral and written language ability
- Ability to follow step-by-step procedures.
- Works well independently and with others.
- Good communication skills.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Associate’s Degree in Electronics curriculum preferred
- 2-5 years of experience troubleshooting electronic controls in a manufacturing setting
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
- Must be able to visually inspect machines.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
