Description
This position is conducts daily inspections, reporting, and oversight of the contractor’s work to ensure compliance with design drawings, specifications, and criteria, as well as national, state, and local codes, quality assurance standards, health and safety regulations, and customer specifications. This is a long term contract job with over time potential and per diem for this road warrior type of job. Work will be away from home for 8 weeks at a time.

Essential Functions
- Keeps daily inspection records (and record on the Daily Log) which include a description of the construction activity, time of day, daily weather, crew members and equipment make and model, names of visitors, and irregularities and corrective action regarding compliance with the drawings, specifications and permit.
- Ensure compliance of work completed according to drawings and specifications and report same on the Quantity Records. Notes relevant data and discrepancies on reporting tools
- Work with the Contractor in coordinating operations as directed by the Lead Compliance Inspector or Project Manager
- Records and documents notable discrepancies in Company’s digital reporting tools
- Submits accurate time sheets and expense reports to the Lead Compliance Inspector. Time and mileage to be approved by Lead Compliance Inspector. Mileage to be documented on logs and via weekly photos of vehicle odometer reading.
- Cable locating and protection.
- Report to Company’s Project Manager about any irregularities and work to facilitate solutions to problems.
- Photograph site progress and submit reports to office.
Qualifications
Experience
- 1 years of field utility/telecom inspection experience.
- Experience with trenching, plowing, boring, excavations, and cable placement preferred.
Skills
- Able to interpret and explain applicable regulations, statutes, plans specifications and administrative functions.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors.
- Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Able to stand for long hours and traverse rough terrain.
- Ability to physically perform field work, requiring working in hot and cold weather while handling equipment
- Must be willing to travel extensively and work continuously out of town, with some projects ranging 8 to 12 weeks.
- Knowledge and ownership of smart phone to communicate with office and send documentation as needed.
- Dependable and reliable, working 10 hours per day, 5 sometimes 6 days per week.
- Excellent communication skills, team player, detail oriented, motivated.
- Owns reliable vehicle.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Computer/GPS/electronic system experience preferred
- OSHA 10 Certified or ability to obtain
- Electric utility or communication utility background also preferred
