Volunteer - Homeless Outreach
Make a Real Difference – Become a Homeless Outreach Volunteer!
Are you passionate about helping others? Do you want hands-on experience making an impact in your community? Join BHcare as a Homeless Outreach Volunteer and be a part of meaningful change.
We’re looking for motivated, compassionate individuals (16 ) with an interest in social work, public health, human services, or related fields. If you’re an independent self-starter who’s comfortable in all environments, this is your chance to gain valuable experience while supporting those in need.
What You’ll Do:
- Distribute hygiene kits and essential supplies
- Support outreach efforts, including annual Point-in-Time counts
- Complete online training on working with the homeless population
- Assist with various tasks to support our mission
This is an unpaid volunteer role supervised by our Housing Outreach Program team, but the experience you gain—and the impact you make—are priceless.

Who We Are:
BHcare is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic serving south-central Connecticut, including the Lower Naugatuck Valley, Greater New Haven, and Shoreline communities. For over 40 years, BHcare has provided comprehensive services to individuals, families, and communities dealing with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, domestic violence, and other health-risk behaviors.
Qualifications
- Minimum: 16 years of age
- Interest in working with, or pursing a degree in one of the following:
- Social work, public health, human services, or related field.
- Specific interest in working with the homeless population.
- Highly motivated, organized, independent, self-starter, comfortable in all environments.
