Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
The purpose of the Intern – Business Developer position is to develop college students who are pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or geographic information systems (GIS). Intern will be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that will provide an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college or master’s program and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is a temporary, non-exempt position.
Typical Duties
Under the direction of the Sr. Director, the development intern will:
Assist with evaluating development opportunities in three or more states or utility territories with different regional transmission organization.
Assist with data gathering related to interconnection study processes and existing queue positions.
Assist with evaluating development locations including providing competitive intelligence on lease rates and construction costs
Make recommendation to management as to total market opportunity in each of three statesor utility territories.
**The primary location is Des Moines, IA but would also consider Portland, OR.**
College or graduate school student, sophomore, junior or senior standing, currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master’s degree program in GIS or business.
Prior utility, energy, or renewable industry experience helpful.
Engineering or GIS experience helpful.
Software skills needed to be used in extracting information from various sources, conducting analysis and assisting workforce to achieve goals.
Effective project management skills.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on interpersonal and cross team collaboration.
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Offices, especially Work, Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
