Responsible for the overall planning, coordination and administration of a power generation plant including operations and maintenance, engineering, safety, purchasing and accounting. Responsible for maximizing power generation profits. Develops operations objectives, policies and strategies the ensure the profitable, safe and reliable operation of the gas plant. Responsible for supporting project development regarding engineering, operating and environmental activities. Develops operations objectives, policies and implements long range plans.

BHE Renewables owns interests in several independent power projects in the U.S. BHE Renewables owns solar, wind, geothermal, hydro and natural gas projects that largely sell their output to regulated utilities. The company’s portfolio includes projects and assets in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York and Texas. BHE Renewables is building a first-of-its-kind solar-powered microgrid that will be the start of an aerospace manufacturing hub in West Virginia.

- Develops operations objectives, policies and strategies the ensure the profitable, safe and reliable operation of the gas plant
- Lead the coordinated activities of plant personnel to meet or exceed established generation and profit targets
- Develop and manage the annual budget. Develops operations objectives, policies and implements long range plans
- Conduct continuous assessment of subordinate performance and provide development activities
- Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including employee safety, selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives, and planning, organizing, integrating, measuring, and reporting the work performed within the department
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management or related field. (Typically, six additional years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.)
- Eight or more years of related experience, including three years technical leadership or supervisory/management responsibilities
- Knowledge of applicable governmental regulations is required
- Knowledge of the power energy market and transaction processes and effective negotiation skills is required
- Intermediate to advance knowledge of personal computer software applications, including spreadsheet, word-processing and database required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
- Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities
- Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently
- A valid United States driver's license is required
- While performing the duties of this job the employee may work near moving machinery and may be exposed to fumes and airborne particles
- Occasionally the employee is exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, as well as, loud areas and exposed hot piping
- During the course of performing assigned duties the employee may be required to work with or be exposed to hazardous substances and occupational hazards
- The company will provide the employee with initial training on all known hazardous substances and occupational hazards prior to allowing the employee to perform a particular duty unsupervised
- Annual refresher training will also be provided on all known hazards, and new hazards as they are identified. The company will provide the required personal protective equipment.
