What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Material Handler I position at BHF?

Broadwind Heavy Fabrications in Abilene, TX has an opening for a Yard Material Handler I on C Shift (Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.) C Shift comes with a $4.50 / hr shift differential. This exciting role is responsible for the movement of materials between functions, departments and locations within the Broadwind campus. Level II Team Members must be certified and qualified in the use of certain equipment and movement of some materials both in the building and in the yard. Daily duties include :
- Review work assignments to plan and coordinate. Prioritize workload so production needs are met.
- Move materials in and around the yard, buildings or remote locations. Stack all materials neatly and in the correct location for all areas of facility Pick up debris, garbage and scrap materials throughout facility when applicable
- Manage record-keeping related to movement of materials Perform daily maintenance and inspection of required equipment referencing the daily personal maintenance sheet Perform start up inspection at the beginning of each shift Visually inspect, check and fill fluids, and check functions Reports any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns Clean equipment used as needed for shift hand- off
- Identify damaged and non-compliant materials Looks for ways to improve processes and apply Lean thinking Adhere to safety requirements and standards Cross-train and support other material handling roles to which an individual is qualified Models BWEN Core Values All other duties as assigned
