Scottdale Healthcare and Rehabilitaion is looking for a PRN Speech Language Pathologist to provide top-quality care for our residents at our 35-bed skilled nursing facility in Scottdale, PA. DAY IN THE LIFE AS A SPEECH THERAPIST
As a speech therapist you will work as a member of the facility interdisciplinary team developing and coordinating treatment plans for both short-term and long-term residents. You will collaborate with medical providers, patient care staff, and clinical resources in the planning, implementation and delivery of care. You will provide speech Language Pathology services on all residents/patients in accordance with physician orders.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for administration and direct application of Speech-Language Pathology treatment modalities as prescribed by a licensed physician.
- Evaluates plans, directs and treats all residents/patients referred to speech/language
- Maintains state and federal requirements, professional guidelines, and the code of ethics for the profession of speech therapy and the provision of speech therapy services.
- Coordinates and directs resident/patient care to ensure needs are met.
- Maintains resident/patient confidentiality at all times according to HIPPA regulations
QUALIFICATIONS
- Holds a master's degree from an approved college or school of speech language pathology.
- Current state Speech Language Pathology licensure and credentialing
- Certificate of Clinical competence (CCC) as granted by the American
Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligible to begin the
Clinical Fellowship Hear (CFY). - Completes continuing education requirements as set forth by state and/or
professional organization - CPR certification
- Previous experience in a long-term care facility
- A love for people, especially the senior population
SKILLS:
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and pathology for effective
evaluation treatment of swallowing, communication and cognitive disorders - Knowledge of equipment operation, and maintenance of same in regard to
the discipline of speech-language pathology. - Practical working knowledge of the various pathological problems encountered.
- Collaboration with other member interdisciplinary team members to
maximize resident/patient care - Knowledge of federal, state, regulations and professional guidelines as they
relate to the delivery of speech-language pathology services.
