About The Position
As an Engineer 1 at BHMG Engineers, you could be responsible for completing P&C (Protection and Controls) or Physical design on various substation projects or working with on Overhead and Underground lines in our Line department. You will be under the guidance of experienced engineers and designers, adhering to the project and budget criteria along with applicable industry and client standards in addition to BHMG’s high quality standards. Utilizing our industry-leading ISO 9001 quality management system, BHMG delivers a premium product that exceeds client expectations. You will use a hands-on approach to each project and focus on continually improving processes after each project’s completion.
Key Responsibilities Include
Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university required. Previous internship/co-op experience working on electrical P&C or physical substation design projects or line design projects preferred. Plan to or have successfully completed the Fundamental of Engineering (FE) exam or EIT certification strongly preferred. Previous experience with various design tools and computer programs (Microsoft products, AutoCAD and Bluebeam) preferred. Strong interest in power systems requried.

Possess an entrepreneur type mindset. Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments and manage changing assignments in a team environment. Must be able to solve problems with minimal supervision from leader or management. Proactive, good communicator (oral and written), able to effectively multitask and prioritize, and needs strong analytical and problem-solving skills to trouble shoot and assess key issues to address. Ability to collaborate, build relationships and work effectively with a team and key stakeholders in order to understand and deliver on client requests.

- Prepare all technical information under experienced engineers and designers technical guidance.
- Implement client and industry standards on deliverables.
- Prepare design packages for leader’s review.
- Maintain/update the drawing folders and drawing list in coordination with drafters.
- Submit approved drawing requests to Document Control.
- Populate bill of materials and prepare specifications for parts to procurement.
- Prepare initial draft calculations and report to support design.
- Comply with BHMG quality management system (QMS).
- Assist project engineers and support other team members in preparing design calculations and documentation.
- Regularly meet and correspond with design team.
- Other duties as assigned.
