Job Summary:
We're seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Butcher to join our team or someone with some experience wanting to learn more. The ideal candidate will have some expertise in meat cutting techniques, product knowledge, and a Passion for quality meats. You will be responsible for preparing premium cuts while educating customers on selections and cooking methods.
Responsibilities:
- Cut, trim, bone, tie, and prepare various meats to exact specifications
- Create specialty cuts and custom orders for customers
- Ensure proper meat handling, storage, and sanitation practices
- Maintain display cases with attractive and fresh product presentations
- Advise customers on meat selection, preparation methods, and cooking techniques
- Minimize waste through proper cutting techniques and creative solutions
- Follow all health department regulations and safety standards
- Collaborate with kitchen staff on special cuts for menu items
Requirements:
- 2 years experience as a butcher or meat cutter
- Comprehensive knowledge of various meat cuts and preparation techniques
- Strong knife skills and precision cutting abilities
- Understanding of meat aging processes and quality indicators
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Food Handler's certification
- Detail-oriented with focus on presentation and quality
