About the Laboratory:
The Laboratory at Baptist Health Louisville acts as the core laboratory for the Baptist Health system performing testing for both inpatients and outpatients. This fast-paced, busy automated Laboratory has the capacity to perform a full range of tests while maintaining a short turnaround time for our patients. The Laboratory Med Techs perform testing in chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and microbiology. This is an outstanding opportunity for individuals who like a busy laboratory and an opportunity to learn and grow in the field. Newly graduated Med Tech Laboratory students are welcome to apply.
Job Duties:
The Microbiology division of Laboratory is responsible for the identification of bacteria, fungus and viruses found in a wide variety of specimens. Microbiology has a critical role in patient care and the identification and prevention of infection. The microbiologist is responsible for independently performing, interpreting, and correlating related tests to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment.
Knowledge, experience, education:
Bachelor's degree in in Medical Laboratory Sciences or an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent required.
Must become certified within 6 months of hire.
Previous work experience in high complexity testing preferred.
