Job Description:
- The Patient ambassador facilitates communication between patients/families and the Emergency Department staff, assisting to keep patients/family members informed of delays, keep patients up to date with the progress of their care and addressing and escalating patient/family concerns.
- The Patient Extender must have a high level of communication skills and be able to exhibit empathy, kindness, courtesy, strong emotional intelligence and be capable of dealing with high stressful and emotional situations while remaining calm and compassionate.
- Will round on patients in the lobby and throughout the Emergency Department to ensure their needs are met, escalate concerns or issues to the care team to help resolve, maintain patient confidentiality, perform hourly lobby announcements to update patients that are waiting, assist with escorting patients to and from care spaces, bathroom, ect., respond promptly to patient needs by assisting with getting blankets, pillows, drinks, ect and assist with responding to call lights for non-emergent medical needs.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required
- High school diploma, or GED required.
- Certified Nurse Aide certification preferred.
- One year experience in health care field or hospitality industry and or six months working with the public.
