Job Description:
Full Time 40 hours weekly
8 Hour shifts
The physical therapy tech’s primary function is to perform routine designated tasks related to the operation of physical therapy services such as transporting patients to the rehab room or treatment areas, assisting the patients, preparing treatment and treatment areas, cleaning equipment, and maintaining supplies. Also, the physical therapy tech will acquire knowledge of patient care techniques and will be responsible for operating mechanical machinery; ambulating patients with appropriate assistive devices and weight-bearing status; and performing appropriate exercises on patients following instruction by a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. Other responsibilities of the physical therapy tech are setting up traction and notifying the physical therapist or physical therapist assistant of any significant changes in patient condition prior to patient evaluation, treatment, or re-evaluation. The physical therapy tech will assist in coverage of the rehab clerk duties as needed. When engaged in the delivery of physical therapy services, the physical therapy tech shall abide by the standards outlined in the Practice Act of the Kentucky State Board of Physical Therapy.
Essential Duties:
- · Transport patients to and from the department or satellite stations.
- · Assist the patients as directed.
- · Prepare treatment and treatment areas.
- · Clean equipment and maintain supplies
- · Responsible for operating mechanical machinery
- · Ambulating patients with appropriate assistive devices and weight-bearing status
- · Performing appropriate exercises
- · Follow instruction by the manager or therapist and therapist assistants
Requirements:
- High School Degree
- Must obtain BLS within 3 months after hire.
Preferred Requirements:
- Job related experience in acute care
