Job Description:
Job Summary:
Patient population includes any patient admitted to Baptist Health Louisville, adolescent years to geriatrics. Assesses the vascular system according to the exam ordered. Performs the echocardiogram exams in a professional manner demonstrating technical accuracy and a thorough understanding of the equipment. Records the results of the exam for interpretation by the Medical Director. Assists with the collection and analysis of data for statistical purposes.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
1. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system.
2. Records an accurate medical history, indication for exam, and a physical evaluation according to the exam ordered.
3. Provides appropriate documentation of services rendered to: - The medical director for interpretation - The patient’s chart and/or attending physician - The department files and research files - The business office for posting of charges
4. Provides all information gathered to the preceptor for review prior to dismissing the patient.
5. Demonstrates proficiency while performing the following echocardiogram procedures:
- Adult echocardiogram - Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) - Stress echo (Exercise and dobutamine)
6. Annual completion of competency validation, safety training, and OSHA requirements.
7. Participant in CQI activity.
8. Performs Quality Improvement duties in accordance to ICAEL, JCAHO, hospital and department guidelines.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
A. Currently enrolled in a CAAHEP accredited program in Cardiovascular Ultrasound.
B. CPR certification required within 90 days of employment
