Summary/Objective
The Medical Assistant provides a variety of patient care activities, clerical duties and accommodative services for all patients.
Essential Job Duties

- Provides an appropriate clinic environment for patient care by maintaining the patient area in an orderly manner and maintaining neatness of the work environment including exam and treatment rooms.
- Performs patient care activities within limits of position and under the direct supervision which may include but not limited to vital signs, obtaining height & weight, phlebotomy, and other procedures required for client health screenings.
- Assists patient and families with navigation throughout the clinic and with appointments, as well as escorting patients to the check-out area.
- Prepares charts for physician and nurse practitioners, ensuring that all lab, pathology, imaging, test, procedures, and surgery reports/results, along with clinic summary report are printed and available for provider to review prior to patient visit. Chart prep is to be maintained a minimum of 5 days ahead of schedule and are to be reviewed for completeness within 2 days of patient appointment to ensure all reports/results are on chart.
- Maintains and orders clinic supplies and assists with ordering and maintaining par level supplies as necessary. Includes stocking of the clinic areas and proper disposal of waste; as well as, utilizing Standard Precautions to minimize the potential for exposure to infectious processes and disposes of all needles and syringes and or other items used in specimen collection to minimize exposure potential to self and others.
- Consistently follows hospital policy regarding verification of patient identification prior to rooming patients and obtaining specimens. When obtaining specimens, ensures that they are appropriately labeled with patient identifiers, date and time of collection and initials.
Required Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent.
1-3 years of related experience.
Required License/Certifications
Current American Heart Association CPR card or obtain CPR card within 30 days of hire.
