Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Clinical Pharmacology Group in TMCP Department at our US headquarters in Ridgefield, CT. The Ridgefield campus, along with our sister sites in Texas and California, includes a thriving community of postdocs and PhD students that connects globally with their peers on our European campuses.

As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will be responsible for conducting independent research under the direct guidance of an experienced PBPK expert and further supported by a team of experts committed to your success. You will interact with a diverse range of individuals (including mentors, fellow researchers, students, and collaborators from global Clinical Pharmacology and TMCP department as well as other departments), and help to foster a collaborative research environment that facilitates exchange of knowledge and ideas. Your research will be focused on scientific questions and new methodologies in the field of PBPK/PBBM that align with the goals of the department and contribute to Boehringer-Ingelheim’s innovative and growing pipeline. You will be expected to present your work to internal leadership and, ultimately, publish your findings in leading journals within the field. Postdoctoral Fellowships are three-year positions, with a potential one-year extension.

Duties & Responsibilities

With support from their advisor and team, the ideal candidate is expected to:

• Design and conduct their own independent research project(s).
• Collaborate with other researchers within and outside Boehringer Ingelheim.
• Effectively communicate and defend their own work in the context of team and department goals, both orally and in writing.
• Establish an international reputation in your area of expertise with publications and conference participation at national and international events.
• Apply physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling, to integrate in vitro and in vivo nonclinical and clinical data for predicting pharmacokinetics of new therapeutic modalities in the field of inflammation, oncology, cardiovascular, renal and metabolic diseases, CNS, retinopathies and emerging areas.
• Identify the interrelationships between the physicochemical properties of a drug, formulation parameters, and pharmacokinetics after drug administration in the clinical setting.
• Communicate and present findings
• Utilize appropriate data analysis techniques and visualization tools.
• Contribute to informed decision-making and strategy for clinical drug development.
• Interpret and communicate results to an interdisciplinary audience and experts in the field.

Requirements

• Ph.D. degree in related discipline , with a preference of no more than three (3) years of previous Post Doctoral experience
• Hands-on experience and expertise in standard PBPK modeling platforms (e.g., PK-SIM)
• In-depth knowledge of pharmacokinetic processes and the impact of physiological parameters
• Basic knowledge of drug development, ADME, formulation development, biopharmaceutics, and biology/physiology
• Scientific experience and the ability to review scientific literature
• Strong teamwork skills with independent working style, high level of initiative, reliability, and readiness to take on responsibility
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation abilities in English
