The role, at a glance:
The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality of materials for use in manufacturing as well as guiding personnel on manufacturing workmanship requirements.
How you'll contribute:
- Respond to and guide or resolve standard line stoppages for nonconforming material issues. Escalate to the responsible stakeholder when necessary
- Work with Manufacturing or Quality Engineer to perform inspection of suspected nonconforming material
- Segregate nonconforming materials in an organized and concise manner and perform inventory transactions to ensure digital quarantine. Maintain control of segregated material
- Work with team to accurately document nonconforming material details, review and assign dispositions, then process the material out following the Material Review Board (MRB) process
- Assist in the administration of nonconformance records
- Create and/or maintain accurate incoming inspection records and transactions in inventory control system
- Work with engineering to obtain necessary inspection documentation when needed
- Verify the authenticity of critically controlled components
- Inspect material using calibrated equipment, drawings, and specifications (mechanical, electrical, cosmetic), and/or controlled comparison samples
- Review supplied documentation (labeling, Certificates of Compliance, etc.) for accuracy and files appropriately
- Complete tasks to support Quality Engineering projects
- Monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Quality rooms and functions and resolves issues to maintain performance levels
You'll also support with:
- Communicating daily objectives and reporting out on actions toward resolution of obstacles
- Carrying out basic improvement projects with personal responsibility and accountability
- Performing process audits to evaluate process conformance
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
A successful candidate should have:
- Two years of experience in an electronic manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles is preferred
- Practical knowledge and demonstrated experience with training methods and techniques preferred
- Ability to read and understand drawings. Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) preferred
- Demonstrates good interpersonal skills and can work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and diffuse challenging situations using acceptable and appropriate methods
- Capable of staying calm under pressure
- Good organizational skills with the ability to handle standard work and support engineering projects
- Ability to work independently in a team environment. Use tools that require fine hand skills. Has a strong attention to detail and a willingness to engage and learn
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint)
- Ability to distinguish colors and properly use inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, and optical inspection equipment
- Capable of following written or verbal instructions and with good communication skills in English
- May be required to alternate schedules to meet production goals
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environment and be available to work over-time and weekends when needed
Work environment:
- This is an onsite position based in Tigard, OR
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. periodically
- Stand or sit for long periods
- Perform tasks (that may be repetitive) that require reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, stooping and/or bending
- Work in an environment that generates OSHA permissible machine noise levels
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required in designated work spaces
- Use tools that require fine hand skills
