The role, at a glance:
The Systems Engineer III will assist in the evaluation, planning, deployment, and maintenance of our on-prem and cloud-based environments. Working closely with senior team members, you will support daily operations and engage in a variety of tasks that cover infrastructure, cloud-native tools, and systems automation. This role is designed for a proactive problem-solver with a passion for modern cloud technologies, and will offer exposure to tools such as OpenStack, Ansible, Terraform, containerization platforms, as well as fundamental Linux systems and networking concepts.
How you’ll contribute:
Assist in deploying and managing systems in both on-prem (OpenStack) and cloud (Azure) environments
Support infrastructure automation using tools like Ansible and Terraform
Maintain and monitor Windows and Linux servers, ensuring high availability and performance
Utilize terminal/SSH to perform system maintenance, troubleshooting, and configuration
Collaborate in managing containerization solutions and GitOps practices
Assist with basic network operations including DNS, DHCP, and general networking troubleshooting
Participate in incident response and documentation procedures
Record and monitor system metrics using log aggregation and visualization tools (e.g., OpenSearch, Grafana, Prometheus)
Document processes, procedures, designs, and topology and maintain asset database for installed and available equipment and components
Support ongoing projects related to system improvements, security enhancements, and cloud infrastructure operations
Collaborate with team members across multiple IT disciplines to continuously improve procedures, automate routine tasks, and maintain a dynamic technical environment
Contribute to the development and refinement of policies, procedures, and best practices
Perform other duties as assigned
A successful candidate should have:
4 years of experience in systems support, Linux administration, Cloud
Working knowledge of configuration management and infrastructure automation tools and languages, Python, Powershell, bash and particularly Ansible and Terraform
Basic skills in networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Layer 3 and firewall operations
Experience using terminal/SSH and encryption key managment on Linux systems
Understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and version control systems (e.g., Git)
Exposure to cloud-native tooling and gitops methodologies
Ability to work collaboratively, learn quickly, and adapt to new tools and challenges
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Some nice-to-haves:
Familiarity with OpenStack administration and or Azure cloud
Experience with other cloud environments (private and public)
Basic scripting skills (Bash, Python, and PowerShell)
Exposure to container orchestration tools, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks
Knowledge of security best practices within cloud and containerized environments
Work environment:
This is an onsite position based in Beaverton, OR.
