What are the responsibilities and job description for the CTAE - EMT Instructor position at Bibb County Public Schools?
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this position prepares EMT students for the EMT practical exam. Teaches EMT psychomotor skills lab according to the standards and guidelines established by the Georgia Office of EMS and using National Registry skills evaluation sheets or other similar evaluative instruments. Facilitates student comprehension and application of knowledge, skills and attitudes required for entry level Emergency Medical Technicians.

College and Career Academy Director/Executive Director of CTAE
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in planning, coordinating, and implementing EMT lectures and skills to students.
- Prepares and delivers instruction either inside the classroom or outside and supervises the activities of course participants during instructional time.
- Fulfills EMS educational program administrative requirements, including calculation and submission of grades, maintenance of program, course, and student/participant records and preparation and presentation of data and reports.
- Conducts periodic training sessions on supply and property management related tasks and may assist in evaluating the effectiveness of training activities. Coordinates logistics for instruction events, including scheduling classes, reserving classrooms, preparing workstations, and conduction post-training administration.
- Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Assess the accomplishments of students regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
- Effectively collaborate with the department and other CTAE teachers.
- Adheres to ethical, behavioral and professional standards.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
The EMT instructor must work with minimal supervision and must provide leadership and support Emergency Medical Technician programs at the school level while working with all individuals in a professional manner.
EDUCATION:
- Associate’s Degree or higher in the related field
- Post-secondary teaching experience
- Current Georgia EMT Certification
- Must possess (or meet qualifications for) teacher certification following Georgia Emergency Medical Services Regulations.
- Minimum of three years of EMT work experience
Any alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may find appropriate and acceptable
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Some positions require the ability to move wheelchairs and related equipment and to assist in the relocation of students. Bending, walking and lifting is required.
SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS:
1. 195 day work year.
2. Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Georgia Annual Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).
