Candidates must be certified in, or eligible for certification in English/Language Arts or Reading. Candidates with TSC/TSS certification and Reading Endorsement are preferred.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Literacy Coach has expertise in reading and writing across content areas. This position, having both content and instructional expertise, will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and teacher practice. The Coach will focus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and refine the understanding about researched-base effective instruction for teachers. The Coach will provide personalized, 1:1 support based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers and provide supportive professional development to promote student academic achievement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Models best teaching methods and strategies based on the latest research and data.
- Works collaboratively with teachers, other instructional staff, administrators, School Leadership team, community members, and any other relevant service providers to analyze formative assessment data and ensure maximum use of all educational resources to improve student achievement.
- Provides/facilitates high quality, on-going professional development on instructional practices that will produce proficient learners. Training methods should include but are not limited to in-class coaching, classroom video review, co-teaching, peer observing and/or modeling; guiding teachers in reviewing student work and developing data driven lesson plans and goals with teachers.
- Provides feedback to teachers, administrators, and the District concerning the academic program at the school.
- Assists with implementing strategies specific to and across curriculum areas in standards-based classrooms.
- Works with staff to identify students needing additional support.
- Scaffolds the development of an effective assessment system based on regular examination of professional practice through analysis of student work, focused on effective feedback, and designed to support all teachers and students.
- Monitors teachers on the implementation and effectiveness of tools and strategies gained through professional development, District initiatives, and on the use of technology in classroom instruction.
- Assists teachers in the use of the Georgia Standards of Excellence and frameworks to organize the curriculum, ensure rigorous performance tasks are used in classrooms, and create common assessments.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in education/Master’s degree preferred. Candidates must possess a valid teaching certificate in appropriate field(s). A minimum of five (5) years teaching experience with highly effective evaluations. Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

- Possess deep understanding of the science of reading
- Understanding of intervention principles and practices
- Proficiency in developing and implementing data-driven, research-based interventions tailored to teacher needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and other stakeholders
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
- Demonstrate success in training other professionals
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Organizational skills to manage intervention activities and responsibilities effectively

CERTIFICATION, LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid GaPSC Certificate in appropriate field(s)
- Must possess or be willing to complete Teacher Support and Coaching Endorsement.
Salary/Terms/Benefits:
- 195 day work year.
- Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Georgia Annual Salary Schedule and position supplement(s).

This position is grant funded and is contingent on availability of funds.
