The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year.


JOB SUMMARY:

Assists program administrators and service providers in providing well organized, smoothly functioning student-focused mental health services for the #Built4Bibb School-Based Mental Health Service Program, schools, individual students and small groups of students.


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of two years of college is required. Sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours. College Transcript or diploma is required as evidence of education.

2. Some experience working with children is desired.

3. Additional experience in providing or supporting direct services is preferred.

4. Works during the typical school day – but must also be able to work evenings and weekends (when needed)


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of child development.

2. Knowledge of the use and operation of computers and general software.

3. Some knowledge of teaching and/or psychosocial methods.

4. Ability to direct and support children in small groups where mental health services are provided.

5. Ability to instruct, give directions to and provide guidance to children.

6. Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with students, teachers, counselors, parents, and other school employees.

7. Ability to communicate clearly and e?ectively, both orally and in writing.

8. Ability to work under close supervision.

9. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

10. Ability to type/enter data with minimal errors; Clerical skills are desired.

11. Good interpersonal skills.

12. Good organizational skills.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Schedules, documents, tracks, and assist students in receiving mental health services via telehealth by retrieving students and setting up areas for private sessions.

2. Works with a variety of stakeholders (parents, school staff, program staff, etc.) to ensure students receive quality mental health services.

3. Promotes mental health awareness through ongoing outreach in schools and the community.

4. Assists with small group or individual student mental health activities based on plans of care/support developed by counselors and service providers.

5. Assists with the supervision of students participating in mental health activities.

6. Assists students with the operation of computers and the use of selected software while receiving mental health services.

7. Assists with the preparation of materials for mental health activities (including copying and duplicating materials, constructing displays and bulletin boards, setting up and operating audio/visual materials/equipment, computers, etc.).

8. Performs and/or accompanies other program staff on home visits when needed.

9. Performs clerical tasks and duties as necessary.

10. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.


SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS:

1. Rates to be determined by department

2. PT/FT Status - based on need

Physical Demands:

Ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing approximately 25 pounds; Ability to move around classrooms and other areas by stooping, bending, standing for extended periods and moving objects and materials. Crisis intervention may require participating in physical restraints.
