Overview
biBERK, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is currently searching for a Complex Claims Representative to work in our Workers' Compensation unit. The Complex Claims Representative would handle loss claims throughout multiple jurisdiction with heavy concentration in California, Florida, New York, and Texas jurisdictions.
Location:
This is a full-time remote position. Candidates may choose to work full or part-time from our Wilkes Barre, PA office if preferred.
Responsibilities
- Determine compensability and/or coverage issues for loss time workers' compensation claims
- Effectively manage a caseload of loss time claims from numerous jurisdictions – namely California, Florida, New York, and Texas
- Negotiate and direct settlements under management's review
- Gather medical and factual evidence to determine compensability
- Direct outside investigation and handle litigation files within given authority
- Coordinate and maintain contact with claimants and/or their attorneys, outside investigators, and rehabilitation personnel as well as routine contact with insureds, account liaisons and medical providers
Qualifications
A minimum of two years' experience required
Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience in handling lost time or litigated claims
Familiarity with medical terminology
Experience handling multiple jurisdictions
Active adjuster license(s) preferred
Minimal travel for licensing or continuing education purposes necessary
Demonstration of strong organizational, problem solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed
