ROLE OVERVIEW:
Reporting to and working in close collaboration with the President & COO, the Advancement Officer will play a central role in helping Bible in the Schools fulfill its mission by developing and cultivating relationships that will translate to financial support to help meet the organization’s Annual Fund goals. This individual will design and execute a comprehensive and relational development strategy for an assigned portfolio that will lead to increased giving annually.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with the President and staff to help lead long-term strategic fundraising efforts and implementing strategies that meet organizational fundraising goals
- Maintain relationships with a portfolio of partners, cultivating them toward meaningful and growing support of the mission
- Identify prospective donors and develop new relationships that lead to meaningful support of the mission
- Initiate personal visits and meetings with prospects and donors that inspire interest and financial giving
- Maintain records of interactions, tracking stages of relationship building leading to solicitations
- Assist in the development and execution of fundraising events that contribute to meeting the Annual Goal
- Speak to various size groups, inspiring and growing financial support for the mission and vision
- Expected to meet quarterly fundraising goals
- Attend and actively contribute to weekly staff team meetings
- Generate articulate donor communications
- Maintain accurate recording of donor information in CRM and internal digital platforms
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a major fundraising role
- Demonstrated ability to raise gifts of $25,000 or higher
- Character that demonstrates humility, care for others, and relational discernment
- Exemplifies a life of personal generosity and wise financial stewardship
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Highly organized, with meticulous attention to detail that ensures excellent planning and follow through
- Independent self-starter
- Strong technical aptitude; ability to quickly learn and navigate new systems
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Proven track record of consistently meeting and exceeding fundraising benchmarks
- Experience with a donor-related CRM
- Demonstrated ability to secure financial donations at the major gifts level
- Stays well within legal guidelines related to communicating about the mission of teaching Bible in public schools
- Working with a Board of Directors a plus
POSITION TYPE:
This is a full-time, exempt position based in-office, with regular field work expected. Flexibility may be required to accommodate occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends as the nature of the work demands. Pay commensurate with experience.
