Position Description
POSITION TITLE: Desk Clerk
PAY RANGE/GRADE: $17.00 per hour ( $1.00 per hour Night Differential) / Grade 2
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Desk Clerk assists the Property Manager in the operation of the SRO project maintaining order and security in the building, ensuring that all rules are followed and that all monies are accounted for as related to this position description. In all instances the Desk Clerk must perform in accordance with and be committed to the Bickerdike mission, including but not limited to no fraternizing with tenants.
The position requires the ability to plan, organize, and execute tasks; analyze information, make informed decisions, use critical thinking and reasoning skills, and monitor and regulate behavior and emotions. A high level of Customer Service skills is required. The employee in this position is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, climb, use stairs, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform front desk duties including, but not limited to: maintaining building logs in order
(e.g., sign in/out logs and incident reports), keeping the Property Manager informed of any and all incidents, completing incident reports and keeping all information confidential, informing interested applicants of the application process and monitoring the camera system at all times and following recording procedures.
- Receive and submit work orders to the Property Manager to keep all building components and
equipment in excellent condition.
- Receive and direct visitors either on the phone or in person in a professional and courteous manner relaying appropriate information.
- Receive incoming rents, issue receipts and assure that all monies are accounted for.
- Perform and adhere to procedures for laundry token sales and be accountable for all monies received.
- Assist the Property Manager in informing tenants of any special social or community activities
scheduled in the building.
- Conduct periodically scheduled walk throughs of the building and monitor security cameras.
- Enforce BRC building policies and procedures.
- Respond to, log and report tenant complaints.
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 1 year related work experience. High school diploma or equivalent required. Good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Must have experience working with the public. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as required. Overnight Shift is required to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Northside residents, within the communities we serve, preferred.
REPORTING RELATIONS:
Under the direct supervision of the Property Manager. In the absence of the Property Manager, the position shall report to the Regional Property Manager.
