We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Test Automation Engineer for a full-time, contract-to-hireopportunity with one of our clients in Houston, TX. This position is fully onsite and offers a great opportunity for a junior-level candidate to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with exposure to a wide range of modern testing tools and technologies.
While we do not expect candidates to have deep expertise in every area listed, the ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in programming, a hunger to learn, and the flexibility to adapt to a variety of tools and technologies. Training and mentorship will be provided for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain automated test scripts for web and desktop applications.
- Assist in programming custom .NET Windows applications to manipulate and validate data from databases and Excel.
- Work with complex JSON and XML strings for test validations.
- Contribute to regression testing using tools such as PlayWright, UFT, and Selenium.
- Support performance testing efforts with LoadRunner (C) or JMeter (Java/Groovy).
- Participate in testing RESTful APIs and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with QA leads and developers to ensure quality and efficiency throughout the SDLC.
- Utilize SQL to validate data and support test cases, including knowledge of MySQL, Oracle, stored procedures, and simple queries.
- Leverage Excel tools like Pivot Tables or Power Query for test data manipulation and reporting.
- Programming knowledge in C#, VBScript, Java, or Groovy.
- Familiarity with SQL (MySQL, Oracle), stored procedures, and data manipulation.
- Exposure to test automation frameworks: Selenium, UFT, PlayWright.
- Understanding of LoadRunner and/or JMeter for performance testing.
- Experience with REST APIs and tools for API testing.
- Ability to write and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, GitLab, or Jenkins.
- Hands-on experience with Excel for data transformation (Pivot Tables, Power Query).
- Working knowledge of Power BI is a plus, but not required.
- 1β3 years of experience in test automation or software QA (internships and co-ops welcome).
- A strong willingness to learn and grow within a QA automation team.
- Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and troubleshoot effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A team-first attitude with a desire to contribute and grow.
- Must be able to work onsite in Houston, TX. This is not a remote position.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
